A sustainable solution for comfortable and practical activewear
In today's society, many of us strive for a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy foods, using natural cosmetics, and participating in activities such as meditation and exercise. Why not add wearing sustainable fibers to that list?

About FineSportswear
FineSportsWear was born out of my personal need to wear natural fibers while engaging in indoor workouts, outdoor sports, hiking, or even taking a daily walk with my family. As a simple woman, I wanted comfortable and practical activewear options, and that’s how FineSportsWear came into existence. My name is Giorgiana Ghita, and I am the founder.
As a child, I had a strong preference for natural fibers in my clothing. Synthetic materials never felt comfortable on my skin and I always preferred the feel of wool, linen, silk, and even cotton, although this sometimes posed a challenge for my mother. Over time, I became more accustomed to synthetic fibers, but my skin eventually signaled that they were not the best option for me.
I began practicing Pilates two years ago at the age of 37, which I thoroughly enjoy. However, after only one month of exercising 3-4 times each week, I noticed an abundance of pimples on my skin, particularly on my back and shoulders. I attempted to remedy the situation by using acne shower gel, sprays, and creams and even received hormonal pills from my gynecologist to combat the body acne. Unfortunately, none of these treatments proved effective, leaving me perplexed as to why I was experiencing teenage-like body acne at my age.
After a year of trying various solutions, I returned to my home country in Europe and noticed my son’s and my merino wool clothing in my wardrobe. I thought it might be a good idea to bring them back to the US and wear them again. To my surprise, my back acne disappeared within a month of primarily wearing merino wool shirts. It finally dawned on me that my acne was provoked by sweating when wearing polyester clothes. Therefore, FineSportsWear was born out of my necessity to find a place where I could purchase everyday clothing made from natural and sustainable materials. (You can read more about the benefits of merino wool in the linked article.)
The products are manufactured in a factory owned by women in Europe and sold in the US by a women-owned business.

About Merino Wool
Did you know our fiber is a unique type of merino wool used worldwide for high-end athletic wear? It is the most comfortable wool with exceptional qualities not found in other natural or synthetic fibers.
Merino wool decreases heart rate during intense activity compared to other materials and reduces muscle pain after exercise by lowering lactic acid secretion. When exposed to cold air, a merino wool product absorbs moisture and generates heat. One kilogram of wool can produce 960 KJ of heat (through 30% water absorption), equivalent to the heat generated by an electric blanket for eight hours. It also balances body temperature and prevents overheating by evaporating water from the fiber structure.
Merino wool is a natural remedy for joint pain and provides thermal protection to older people and children with reduced thermoregulation abilities. Sleeping in a Merinito t-shirt is peaceful without hot or cold sensations, not just in cold seasons.
It is a safe option as it shields against harmful sun rays (protection factor +50 on the entire spectrum), is hypoallergenic, and is self extinguishing due to its natural water and nitrogen content. It does not release toxic gases, making it ideal for firefighters, military personnel,
motorcyclists, racing pilots, and space mission crews.
Inhaling fibers from synthetic materials such as nylon, polyester, and acrylic can cause irreversible lung damage. Studies have shown that synthetic fibers can lead to respiratory diseases (“Respiratory disease caused by synthetic fibers: a new occupational disease”1 J.CORTEZ PIMENTEL, RAMIRO AVILA, and A. GALVAO LOURENQO – a study published in
Thorax – the official journal of the British Thoracic Society). Hence, using merino wool can be a healthier choice.
During an interview, the Prime Minister of Japan praised the benefits of using merino wool products. He suggested that using this type of wool can help reduce energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions related to home heating. Merino wool is an excellent and sustainable source, as long as there is air, water, sun, and grass – the sheep produce it annually!
Merino wool can also be considerably more lightweight and less bulky than other types of wool, making it easier to pack and suitable for both hot and cold weather, depending on the weight of the piece of clothing. Its natural elasticity also makes it more durable and resistant to wrinkling.
Moreover, when we no longer need the woolen product, we can return it to nature by burying it in the ground. It degrades quickly, including the environmentally-friendly paint used, and enriches the earth with nutrients.
From the perspective of future generations, it is essential to consider what we wear. Did you know that a woolen product disintegrates in the soil in just nine months compared to synthetic products, which require up to 30-40 years? We use wool from sheep raised in Australia, which is AWTA/IWTO certified, and the fineness is between 17.5 and 19.5 microns. The material is knitted from yarn-dyed certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I.
Please note: Merino wool is highly “addictive”!
